Telecommunications Engineer

A Telecommunications Engineer is expected to provide analysis for decisions regarding appropriate technologies and standards for data, voice and video equipment. In addition, the telecommunications engineer must also be knowledgeable about uses of data, voice and video technology as a business tool.

The telecommunications engineer will be expected to know how to configure and maintain Cisco CSS for general purpose load-balancing. The engineer will also be expected to know how to maintain BGP between EDC/NADC/TDC and MPLS networks and provide support Cisco Call Manager and H.323 VoIP gateways.

The incumbent, in his/her area of responsibility, must have sufficient technical knowledge to assess the relevance of any products capabilities to general business needs, to select the appropriate products and services, and direct and monitor the installation of them.
