The telecommunications operations analysts manages, monitors, tests, analyzes, and troubleshoots local area and wide area networks to accomplish proactive trouble avoidance and maintains integrity.

General duties include the creation and tracking of trouble calls escalated from other areas on routers, switches, bridges, multi-media communications equipment and the data and wireless area networks communications networks.

A telecommunications operator will generally have experience within a NOC environment and network troubles are troubleshot to the component level. The operator will be responsible for monitoring, detecting, and mitigation of network intrusions.

Duties of the operator will also include conducting research into network intrusion, denial of service, virus attacks, and other security breaches.

The telecommunications operator is expected to have experience with VoIP, Video/IP, VPNs, Frame Relay and MPLS protocols, along with experience with maintaining and troubleshooting LAN and WAN communications networks.
