A telecommunications technician provides support to end users on a variety of telecommunications issues. A technician identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems.

A technician will also respond to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support. He/she will document, track, and monitor incidents to ensure a timely resolution. Technicians will also be expected to schedule, service, and request for telecommunications network changes.

A technician is expected to have knowledge of and experience with telecommunications technology including but not limited to: telephones, cell phones, smart-phone, BlackBerry/RIM, VoIP, other supported wireless devices and peripherals. He/she will also have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the telecommunications field with the ability to use analysis tools for the purpose of network tuning.
